Trip report: Ecuador The Andes Introtour (Feb 2010) by Tropical Birding

Guided by Andres Vasquez.

The Andes Introtour has always been the perfect trip to get hooked to Ecuadorian birds for people who have not been in the country before. This particular trip, with all the variety of birds seen and habitats visited certainly will make several of the participants come back to visit other areas of Ecuador in search for more. There was a bit of rain as can always be expected in the cloudforest, but we managed to get the expected birds plus many species we don’t usually see, like nesting Black-throated Trogon and Blue-whiskered Tanager, the rare Pacific Tuftedcheek and Brown Wood-Rail, the display flights of Purple-collared Woodstar plus twice we almost trod on a pair of Tanager Finches that tamely crossed the path we were walking on.
