Trip report: Brazil Photo Tour (September 2014) by Tropical Birding

Guided by Pablo Cervantes. This was a custom tour.

This short custom tour took in the best of Brazil’s vast natural wetland, the Pantanal. It is rightly famed for being packed with large photogenic birds, like Jabirus, Wood Storks, and the World’s largest parrot, the cobalt blue Hyacinth Macaw. However, the Pantanal is also great for other wildlife too, and we enjoyed photographing some of the most iconic animals on the continent, including several Jaguars and two different Giant Anteaters, making this a very successful photo journey through one of the world’s largest wetlands. The timing of the trip, during the latter part of the dry season also meant that the birds and animals were concentrated in areas where the little remaining water existed, making for great photo shoots throughout.
