OTHER ACTIVITIES.
Even non-birdwatchers are enamoured by the wonderful
hummingbirds that come into the feeders
Hiking: For hiking enthusiasts, there are
many trails ranging from well-maintained and easy trails to long and
very rugged trails that require a little bush bashing and are best done
with a guide.
Guided daywalks: For those people who wish
to learn more about the Atlantic forest and it's inhabitants, guided
2-3 hour walks, with experienced English and Portuguese speaking guides
can be organised. On the trails surrounding the lodge these guides will
show you many bird and plant species. There is always the opportunity
to encounter some of the mammals of the valley. Special arrangements
can always be made for shorter walks along one of our trails that were
built for easier walking.
Nightwalks: Many animals tend be more active
at night, and the forest surrounding the lodge seems like a completely
different world. There are regular guided walks through the forest looking
for mammals, owls, and nightjars, and along the edge of the wetlands
looking for frogs.
Other activities: Opportunities for those
not that interested in bird include other activities such as horse riding,
fishing and visiting the local farms.
