"Where in the World" is Ben??

Hello from Okinawa, Japan!

On this tiny little island we have been exposed to all sorts of great things. The birding has been tough with some tricky weather...especially the wind but we did manage to see the Okinawa Woodpecker today which Charley Hesse (another TB guide) reckons there are only about 200 or so left...so pretty cool! The photography thus far has been...well...non-existent in my mind but I am promised much better opportunities further north so for now...lots of food pics and just fun general pics!

One of the main targets on this portion is indeed the Okinawa Rail which we are still on the hunt for but knowing Charley, he isn't going to give up that easy. One of the days we stopped in a cool spot for lunch and there was this "weight-lifting" Okinawa Rail statue that I just had to take a photo with. If you know…

Hey everyone! Hoping you all had a wonderful holiday season :D

My dad and I chose to wind down the year by visiting "mini Bosque del Apache" here in SE Arizona called Whitewater Draw. We spent the better part of a morning photographing some Sandhill Cranes against the semi-mountainous landscape of this area. Very fun indeed!

It was a nice and chilly morning and I am still waiting for my TB Hoodie to arrive. My TB hat didn't quite keep my head warm but gosh I like it...haha

Just two weeks left until I take off for Japan, my first trip of the year. Where are y'all going first next year?

I wish you cranes dancing in falling snow and monkeys in their hot tubs! Enjoy Japan!

A big reason I'm not somewhere exotic in the world is due to this ... haha - wisdom teeth removal! All went well, just a little swollen but I'll be home in Arizona the rest of the year. Enjoy the holiday season my friends!

Been there! More swelling and drooling to come!

Happy Holidays and enjoy the meds!

Not sure where to ask this, but perhaps you can direct it/me appropriately. I am on the Costa Rica Photo tour this coming February and have been looking at the newly posted revised itinerary and trying track it out on my maps of CR.

Question 1: Is the "little hole in the wall" mentioned for Day 2 the Soda y Mirador Cinchona restaurant on the road between San Jose and Selva Verde?

Question 2: Day 12 appears to have us driving up from the coastal area to the Talari Mountain Lodge and then backtracking on Day 13 to the Paraiso Quetzal Lodge. Do I understand that correctly?

Hi John - No worries. The forums/groups and members area in general are all still new. This is a place for me to keep people (who are interested) up date to with my travels. You have a great question and a very important one at that but it is best addressed directly to our office. Please email them with these questions as they will be best to assist you. But to answer your questions concisely;

1) Yes, Soda y Mirador Cinchona is the hole in the wall. A sweet place with some fun photography. You'll love it!

2) If that is the itinerary, it is a bit of backtracking but we are significantly handcuffed in Costa Rica. This is the best time to go which means, it is busy. We have to do what we need to do to get bookings so sometimes we backtrack or crisscross. Sorry about that but its probably what we had to do to make it work!

Cheers Bud!

Ben
