Tours in Central & South America

Our ever-growing selection of birding tours and photo journeys gives you the chance to experience some of the best of the Neotropics. And with over 4000 species, there is enough to keep you satisfied for a lifetime. Many of our trips are in the Andean countries of Ecuador, Peru, Colombia, Chile, and Argentina, which together have a mind-blowing number of birds, not to mention some of the most spectacular scenery on Earth. We also offer several tours to Brazil, taking in several different areas of this vast country, including the expansive wetlands of the Pantanal, the complex Amazonian rainforest, and the endemic-rich southeast Atlantic forests. Costa Rica is a tiny country, yet with an astounding diversity of birds and wildlife.

Most of Latin America is perfectly safe to travel in, and while the media may paint it as overrun by rebels, the truth is that most areas are very peaceful and a joy to visit. The vast majority of the people are conservative and Catholic, with strong ties to family and community. The areas we visit on our tours are politically stable, and the very friendly local people often go out of their way to welcome foreign visitors.

Custom and Private tours

In addition to our scheduled tours, we run many private trips on request at any time of the year. Please contact us, and we will be happy to design an itinerary to suit your needs. These may range from ‘Three friends and I want to go birding in Ecuador next year’, to a custom tour to seek out some of those special birds that have always been high on your most-wanted list. If you can get a few friends or family members to come with out, you might be surprised at how inexpensive these tours are, and they offer you the flexibility of choosing when and with whom you travel.

While the Neotropics are not as well known for mammals as Africa, some tours provide some great opportunities

Our South American office is located in Quito, Ecuador. From the Quito office we coordinate all of our tours in the Neotropics. Many of the tour leaders live in Quito at least part of the time.
